About Mutual Information
Hello there!
My name is Duane ('DJ') Rich and I'm a data scientist at Lyft. I've designed Mutual Information as the channel I could have used when I started studying statistics and machine learning in 2013. At the time, my goal was education for effective on-the-job applications. Now that that education is behind me, I can package it into a YouTube channel designed to accelerate anyone walking the same path.
It will cover the topics most data scientists find useful. Think of them as the classics, topics like the bias-variance trade-off, the EM algorithm, SGD, bayesian stats, etc.
What this channel doesn't cover (at least currently) is the newest SOTA technologies. There is a multi-year life cycle between the first brilliant paper and the confident widespread reliance on that paper in production systems. Those ideas are exciting, but don't serve the purpose of this channel: applications.
