My channel addresses the cultural, artistic & political challenges we all face.
I’m a philosopher. My academic life focuses on concepts of freedom and I'm writing a book about Isaiah Berlin. I'm also a musicologist. Though I'm a British citizen living in London, I was born in Soviet Russia & continue to closely analyse Russian politics.
My videos blend all this. Whilst it may seem an eclectic range of subjects, all my content speaks to our concern to understand who we are, where we've come from, & where we're going.
I don't want to tell you what to think or feel. I want to give you ideas and tools to develop your own way of making sense of the world.
My content is informed by my experience living with a debilitating neurological condition. I contracted it 20 years ago as a research student at Oxford. At its worst, I couldn't walk, talk or read. I manage this condition daily, and it gives me a unique perspective on disability and the tragic element in life, as well as the beauty.
