About Hard Tack
I am a carpenter by trade, and also work as a college professor helping students prepare to get their Red Seal Certificate through apprenticeship training.
I am planning on building a boat shed to build my 38' Centennial Spray, designed by Bruce Roberts, based on the design of The Spray sailed by Joshua Slocum.
The sailboat will be build using the strip plank laminated veneer method describe in "The Gougeon Brothers on Boat Construction". I personally have no issues with using a wood epoxy base for the hull of the boat, as the sailboat I have now (a Thunderbird) is a plywood epoxy hull and is 35 years old and the only hull issue I have had with it, is where fresh water soaked into the plywood from inside because of storage issues (sat for 1 year with 6 inches of water/ice in the bilge) before I purchased it.
