A vast majority of donations go to the CEOs of charities and their advertisement campaigns, with only 10-20% going towards the charitable cause directly. For myself, the opposite is true where the vast majority of donations will go towards helping the people in the nation I am in.
On my trips, I will be going everywhere. Recently, I was in Afghanistan during the fall of the nation to the Taliban where I donated a months pay cheque to people as I went, I enjoyed the trip and showed people what the country is actually like for normal people like you and I. Previously, I've been Chernobyl, I've also asked the Syrian Embassy to meet Assad and they've said no (for now). Only more to come.
