Here's my first attempt at Active Nymphing with a rig especially designed for the job. I had tried this a number of times over the years, but with a standard nymph setup and the results were not always encouraging. Let's see what happens this time.

Fly fishing Outside the Box: Active Nymphing - Making the Leader

Active nymphing requires a leader that allows the fly to sink while still letting us pull it back up. Nylon mono sinks too slow, but all Fluorocarbon will sink too much. Here's the compromise to make this work.
