noun: an alloy of iron that contains 2 - 4 percent carbon, along with varying amounts of silicon, manganese and traces of impurities such as sulfur and phosphorus. It is made by melting scrap and alloying elements in a cupola furnace. The liquid iron is cast, or poured into molds for producing a variety of products.
Hi and thanks so much for watching my videos! I have been casting iron for a little over ten years but have no foundry of my own.
